Privacy Policy

MoonReelz Kids ("we", "us", "the app") is a learn-by-watching app for children, published by MoonReelz Pty Ltd. We built it to be safe, simple, and respectful of families. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell personal information, and there is no advertising and no chat or messaging anywhere in the app.

The short version: We collect the minimum needed to run the app — a chosen username, an optional age range and parent email for account recovery, and in-app activity (reels watched, quiz results, Moons, world items). No ads. No data selling. No chat. Sharing is off by default and parent-controlled.

1. Information we collect

Account basics: a child-chosen username, the child's first name (shown only on the parent dashboard), and birth year/age range (to tailor content difficulty).
Parent email (optional): if a parent adds one, we use it solely to send a one-tap account-recovery link if the child changes devices, and for family-plan setup. No marketing emails.
In-app activity: reels watched, quiz answers, Moons earned/spent, streaks, items placed in the child's world, and friend connections (usernames only). This powers the app, the parent dashboard, and cross-device recovery.
Purchase status: subscriptions are processed by Apple. We use RevenueCat to confirm whether a subscription is active. We never see or store full payment-card details.
Push token (optional): if notifications are enabled, a device push token so we can send app notifications.
Basic technical data: standard, non-identifying data needed to deliver content reliably.

2. How we use it

To run the app — show reels, score quizzes, track Moons and screen-time rewards, and save the child's world.
To provide the parent dashboard (daily limits, rewards, and a view of what the child watched).
To restore a child's account on a new device (via the optional parent email).
To manage subscriptions and the free trial.

3. No ads, no selling, no chat

We do not show third-party advertising, we do not sell or rent personal information, and there is no chat, comments, or messaging feature. Children can optionally make their world visible to friends they add by username — this is off by default, is read-only (no communication), and can be turned off at any time by the child or parent.

4. Children's privacy

MoonReelz Kids is designed for children with parental involvement. We collect only what's needed to run the app and keep parents in control through the PIN-protected Parents area. Parents can review activity, change settings, turn off sharing, and request deletion of their child's data at any time (see Contact). We do not knowingly collect more personal information from children than is reasonably necessary to provide the service.

5. Sharing of information

We share data only with service providers that help us operate the app, under agreements that limit their use of it:

Supabase — secure database hosting for accounts and progress.
Apple — App Store, subscriptions, and (if enabled) push notifications.
RevenueCat — subscription status management.

We may disclose information if required by law.

6. Data retention & deletion

We keep account data while the account is active. Parents can request access to, or deletion of, their child's data by emailing us (see Contact); we will action deletion requests promptly.

7. Security

We use reputable hosting and reasonable technical measures to protect data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your information.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll revise the "Last updated" date above when we do.
