Beyonce's Renaissance World Tour took 18 months of design work, custom robotics, costumes from Mugler and Lou, and a stage built in three modular sections so it could be assembled and disassembled in stadiums across three continents. Long before the first show in Stockholm in May 2023, the tour had already cost a substantial slice of its eventual revenue. None of that money would change whether she played 15 shows or 50, when the tour opened a different cost structure took over. Average performance required venue rental, riggers, security, fuel for the trucks moving the rig, and per-show payments to the touring crew. The tour was burning a real but predictable amount of cash every time the cargo doors opened. The third number was the most interesting one.
