Las Vegas hosting the Super Bowl pulled 330 thousand visitors and one billion dollars in a single week. Where every dollar landed.

When Las Vegas hosted Super Bowl 58 in February 2024, an estimated 330,000 visitors arrived for the week of game day. Hotel occupancy across the strip hit 99%. Independent estimates put the direct economic impact on Las Vegas at roughly $1 billion in a single week. The interesting part is how that number actually got built up. The largest slice was personal consumption. The next slice was investment. Government spending added another slice. The city paid for additional police, transport coordination, and event management. Net exports added the final layer. Money flowing into Las Vegas from out of state. Visitors counted as exports for the city, while imported security staff and broadcast crew flying in counted as imports. Add those four buckets together and you have the standard recipe for measuring the total economic activity of a place over a fixed time.
