The clock starts the moment the alert lands. The Australian pathway runs through a three year Bachelor of Cybersecurity at a university like Edith Cowan, the University of New South Wales or Deakin, or a one to one and a half year Diploma at TAFE. Industry certifications stack on top. Security Plus, then a cloud certification, then a vendor certification. Most new analysts enter through a twelve month security operations centre graduate program at a managed provider or in house at a big four bank. The first three months shadow an analyst on tier two. After that comes solo tier one alert triage on a four on four off shift roster.
