Graduate Mechanical Engineer

A single Chartered Professional signature is what makes a building legal. Until the graduate mechanical engineer earns the chartered title, every drawing they produce must be reviewed and signed by someone who has it. The pathway is a four year Bachelor of Engineering Honours in Mechanical Engineering, accredited by Engineers Australia under the international Sydney Accord. Years one and two are foundation in maths, physics and mechanics. Years three and four specialise across thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, machine design, manufacturing and control systems. Most graduates enter a rotational program at firms like Worley, Wood, Aurecon, BHP or Lendlease, with three or four rotations of six months each across design, projects and operations. The day is computer aided design, calculation and site time.
