Graduate Physiotherapist

Australian physiotherapists are the only allied health profession in the country with first contact practitioner status. A patient can walk in without a doctor referral and the physio can assess, treat, and refer. The pathway is either a four year Bachelor of Physiotherapy at the University of Sydney, Curtin or La Trobe, or a two year Master of Physiotherapy after another bachelor degree. Both routes are accredited by the Physiotherapy Board of Australia and grant full registration on graduation. There is no intern year. The degree covers anatomy, physiology, neurology, cardio respiratory and musculoskeletal physiotherapy and paediatrics. Clinical placements total a minimum one thousand hours.
