The chip was invisible to everyone. Intel fought against AMD but customers did not know what mattered. Computer makers owned brands. Intel owned nothing visible. Intel launched Intel Inside. For every computer sold with their chip, manufacturers received advertising funds. Logos appeared on boxes. Stickers went on cases. Radio spots mentioned the name and jingle. Intel spent one billion dollars yearly seeding the brand with computer makers. They advertised invisibly everywhere with purpose. The customer walked into stores and saw the logo on quality machines.
