How Turkey went from zero drone capability to arming 90+ countries in a decade — by building weapons ten times cheaper than American alternatives.
In 2010, Turkey had no drone industry. By 2020, Turkish drones were used by over 90 countries. By Ractar, run by Selchuk by Ractar, started in aviation, but realized drones were combat's future. Turkey had geopolitical urgency. They fought Kurdish militants in Iraq and Syria needing surveillance and strike capability. American drones were expensive and politically slow. Turkey built their own. By Ractar started with surveillance drones sold to Azerbaijan, Poland, Ukraine, Romania, Morocco, Libya. By 2015, they'd moved to armed drones. By 2020, they had the TB2, staying aloft for 27 hours carrying six missiles. When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, TB2s made immediate difference.
