How a UK skincare brand built around retinoids sells out at every Mecca counter.
Most retinal products tell the customer to start slow and build up over weeks. One British skincare brand turned that instruction into a four-product ladder, priced from $70 to around $160, where every rung is a separate purchase. Elliot Isaacs founded Medick in Hertfordshire in 2009 as a clinical skincare brand distributed primarily through clinics before expanding into prestige retail. The brand's signature category is retinoid serums, active vitamin A derivatives that thin the top layer of skin over time to reveal newer skin underneath. Medick 8 solved this by creating a formal strength ladder of four serums, each separately packaged and priced with clear guidance to spend four to six weeks on each rung before stepping up.
