Most perfume launches named since after abstract concepts. Ocean, midnight desire. One Paris house instead named every fragrance after a specific human memory, complete with a date and place printed on the label. Maison Margiella was founded by Belgian designer, Martin Margiella, in 1988, originally as a deconstructionist fashion house running out of Paris. L'Oreal acquired the fragrance license in 2008 and launched the replica line in 2012 with a specific conceit. Each bottle bore a label that read like a shipping tag, listing a named memory such as Beachwalk, jazz club or by the fireplace, with a fictional date and geographical origin printed underneath, lazy Sunday morning. Paris, April 1994, that was the product identity.
