Three top NYC stylists built a $200M brand on the back of one trade-only secret.

Three celebrity hairstylists, who had each built separate session careers, decided in 2014 to combine their names into a single hair care brand, rather than launch three competing lines. Luxury brand partners acquired the brand six years later. Garan, Howard McLaren and Tom Priano were all top session stylists with individual client lists. Rather than each launching a solo brand in the mid 2010s, they partnered with incubator luxury brand partners in 2014 to co-found R+Co, as a single house carrying all three names. Each product was signed off by all three stylists before release, which made the brand's internal approval bar significantly higher than a solo founder hair care launch. The three founder model solved the single point of failure risk in celebrity founded beauty brands.
