Vintner
A $185 botanical face oil that sold out for two years straight.
A single bottle of facial oil retails for 195 Australian dollars. Every bottle takes three weeks to produce by hand, cold pressed in small batches in one Napa Valley facility. Production cannot scale. The founder says that is the point. April Garjulo ran her family's Napa Valley winery through the 2000s, where she learned the principle that "great wine is not mass produced". In 2012, she launched Vintner's daughter with a single product, the active botanical serum, formulated from 22 plant extracts, cold pressed and phase blended, over a three week cycle per batch. The process was borrowed directly from small lot wine making. Large batches would have been cheaper and faster to produce, but would have compromised the extraction conditions that justified the price.
