Two friends who met at Glossier launched a Body Care brand in 2020 with a premise that ignored decades of industry assumption. Every body product would be designed for showerless use. Laura Schubert and Kristen Gallucci had worked together at Glossier and other beauty companies through the 2010s when they founded Honey in 2020. Their observation was that Body Care had been built around the assumption of a bath or shower ritual, when in reality most customers applied body lotions at their desks on planes, midday and in contexts where water was not available. Honey launched with the splash salve are ready to apply hydrating balm in a push-up stick format designed for dry skin moments outside the bathroom. The dry environment design brief opened a category most competing Body Care brands had ignored.
