Escentric Molecules

Giza Schoen is a German perfumer, who argued through the 2000s that niche perfumaries obsession with complex natural compositions was hiding a chemistry secret. A single synthetic molecule could deliver more lasting pleasure than most multi-ingredient blends. In 2006, he launched a brand to prove it. Schoen trained as a perfumer in Germany through the 1990s and worked inside the commercial fragrance industry, where he observed that certain synthetic aromatic molecules were being used as support notes in premium compositions, but never as lead ingredients. The molecules were considered too simple to stand alone. Schoen founded eccentric molecules in London in 2006, launching with two fragrances. Molecule O1, which contained just a single ingredient, ISO E super, and eccentric ZO1, which used the same molecule as the anchor of a layered composition.
