A Sydney television journalist who reported live from Bondi for Channel 7's sunrise launched a sunscreen brand in January 2021 to solve a problem her own on-camera makeup routine had created every morning. Samantha Brett founded Naked Sundays in Bondi with two products at debut. The hero was the SPF-50+ hydrating glowmist, designed to spray over a fully-done face of makeup without disturbing the look. Most prestige sunscreens forced a trade-off. The application erased makeup and a base coat under foundation felt heavy. The mist removed the trade. The brand sold out in three weeks and reached six-figure revenue inside the first month. The category insight was re-application friction. Dermatologists had told women for years to top up every two hours.
