Smart contracts are programs that execute on blockchains. They run without middlemen and without trust. But there's a problem. They need real world information to make decisions. Chainlink is an oracle network. It collects real world data from multiple sources and feeds it to blockchain contracts. A weather contract asks Chainlink what the temperature is. Chainlink checks weather stations and reports back. A price contract asks what Bitcoin costs. Chainlink checks exchanges and reports back. Smart contracts can now base decisions on real world data instead of only blockchain data.
