Market Equilibrium

Logan Paul opened a 1999 box of Pokemon cards on YouTube. The price went from 2K to 40K in weeks.

In 2020, everyone was at home with a smartphone and a credit card. Logan Paul, the boxing influencer, opened a sealed box of 1999 Pokemon cards on a YouTube livestream and pulled holographic Charisades. The video crossed 16 million views. The price of a sealed box of those cards jumped from around $2,000 to $40,000 in a matter of weeks. Behind the scenes, the Pokemon company was scrambling. The product was selling out, the instant it hit shelves, targets stopped selling cards in stores after fights broke out, resellers ran bots against every online drop. The price of a single first edition, Charisade, at top grading, reached $350,000. Logan Paul himself eventually paid $5.
