A DevOps engineer notices server response times climbing. She opens Datadog and sees the problem in 30 seconds, a database query running eight times slower than yesterday. Without Datadog, finding that query would take two hours. At 300 per engineer per hour, Datadog's $23 monthly fee saved 570 in one incident. Datadog launched in 2010 as infrastructure monitoring. Then it expanded to application performance, log management, security and synthetic testing. Each new product added a billing line. A company starting with five hosts at $23 monthly would expand to 50 hosts with three products at 69 per host. Monthly spend grew from 115 to 3,450 without a single sales call.
