In two thousand nineteen, two defense contractors merged that should not have worked together. L3 Technologies and Harris Corporation were peers, not predator and prey. They had similar revenue, similar scale, similar cultures. Mergers of equals almost always fail because of ego and integration chaos. This one thrived. The magic was complementary capabilities. L3 specialized in military aircraft and electronic warfare systems. Harris specialized in communications and information systems. Almost zero overlap. A pilot needed both for survival.
