When Satya Nadella became CEO of Microsoft in 2014, the company was stale, dominated by PC revenue, missing mobile, losing to Apple and Google. Nadella redefined the company, shift from know-it-all to learn-it-all culture. The company would stop assuming it had answers and start learning from customers and markets. The cultural shift meant embracing cloud, open source, partnerships instead of fighting them. Microsoft made office available on iPad, partnered with Linux, built cloud-first products. Each decision contradicted previous Microsoft, but Nadella believed the old playbook was dead. The market had moved and Microsoft had to move with it.
