Ethereum processed fifteen transactions per second. Bitcoin processed seven. The whole crypto ecosystem moved at dial up speeds while traditional finance handled thousands per second. Solana founder Anatoly Yakovenko asked a different question. What if a blockchain could match the speed of a modern computer? Solana built proof of history, a mechanism that timestamps transactions before they enter the blockchain. This eliminated the coordination problem that slowed other chains. Solana processed sixty five thousand transactions per second, a four thousand times improvement over Ethereum. That speed gap meant entirely new categories of applications became possible.
